How we started
Food and Nutrition Foundation (FNF) was founded in 2005 and opened its offices on 1st December, 2008. It was registered with the Registrar of Societies in January, 2009 on registration number ORS/102/35/3737 and is registered in South Africa as a Non Profit Corporation (NPC) working under the name of Charity Sikazwe Foundation.
The Foundation was founded by Mrs Charity K. Sikazwe after she saw the suffering of women and children in poor communities and felt she could do something about it to reduce the suffering of people .Through her own initiative and resources she registered the non profit and started working in Kamanga Compound at the Community Center.
Where we work
The focus was on poor and vulnerable women and children living with HIV and AIDS. FNF endeavours to uplift the lives of women and children because they are the most poor and vulnerable in society.
We believe women are entitled to a dignified existence and women are the ones who care and nurse their loved ones and once a woman is empowered either through skills or provision of capital to start a small business the who family benefits from her efforts and poverty is reduced as she can afford to buy food for the children , send them to school and buy medicine when unwell. The benefits of uplifting women transcends from her only her family to her neighbours , friends and everyone that she comes across and feels she can lend a hand or offer help.
To have a well informed and empowered community
To bring about social economic justice at all levels through provision of Nutrition, Education, Skills training and advocating for the rights of women and children in poor and disadvantaged communities.
